The Wilhelminian-era residential and commercial building, built in 1892, stood vacant for almost 10 years despite its prominent location. As a result, the old building, comprising a front building, a first side wing, and a first and second transverse building, had to be completely renovated. The second side wing was added as a new building. One of the requirements was to preserve the fire wall character facing Hermannstrasse, which is evident in the choice of windows in the old building and the bay windows in the new side wing.
